Notifications
Stay on top of what matters — new leads, incoming referrals, partner replies, task deadlines — without drowning in noise. Notifications you can tune per channel and per category.
VerdictFlow's notification system tells your team what changed and what needs their attention — across the in-app bell icon, email, and (optionally) SMS — without overwhelming anyone. You decide what's worth a ping and what's just background noise.
Where notifications appear
- The bell icon in the top right of every page — shows unread notifications, sorted newest first. Click any notification to jump straight to the lead, referral, task, or document it's about.
- Email — sent to your account email when an event matches your preferences. Each email links back to the relevant page in VerdictFlow.
- SMS (optional) — for the smallest set of must-not-miss events (e.g. a high-value incoming referral) — only when you've opted in and added a verified phone.
- Dashboard alerts — high-priority items (e.g. an unanswered referral about to expire) get a banner on the dashboard so they don't get buried.
What you'll be notified about
The categories that ship out of the box:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Leads | New lead created, lead assigned to you, lead status changed, lead unresponsive for X hours |
| Referrals | Incoming referral received, partner accepted/declined your outgoing referral, partner retained the client, shotgun referral closed |
| Tasks | Task assigned to you, task you own is due soon, task you own is overdue |
| Documents | Agreement ready for your signature, agreement signed by partner, agreement fully executed |
| Communications | Inbound email or text from a lead you're watching, missed inbound call from a known lead |
| Network | New partner accepted your invitation, partner sent their first referral to you |
| Account | Member invited, member joined, billing reminder, trial ending soon |
Tuning your preferences
Open Settings → Notifications (under your user profile menu) to control:
- Per category — turn email on or off for each category independently. So you can keep "incoming referral" emails coming while muting "lead status changed."
- Per channel — choose in-app only, in-app + email, or in-app + email + SMS for any category.
- Quiet hours — define a window during which non-urgent emails are batched into a single morning summary instead of arriving one by one.
- Daily digest — opt into a once-a-day email summarizing everything that happened across all your categories, in lieu of real-time emails.
Preferences are per-user — every member of your firm tunes their own.
What "watching" means
Some notifications fire because of what you've done (e.g. a referral you sent was declined). Others fire because you're "watching" a lead or referral — usually because:
- You're the assigned owner.
- You created the lead/referral.
- You've taken action on it (sent an email, made a call, added a note).
- You manually clicked Watch on the lead detail page.
You can stop watching anything from its detail page if it's no longer your work.
Firm-wide vs. personal
Notifications are personal — turning off "lead assigned to me" only affects you, not your teammates. There are no firm-wide notification setting changes that override individual preferences.
That said, owners and admins can set defaults for new members under Settings → Notifications → Defaults. Anyone joining the firm gets those defaults until they tune their own.
Real-time vs. delayed
Most notifications are real-time — the bell icon updates within seconds of the event. A few categories are intentionally delayed:
- "Lead unresponsive" notifications fire on a schedule (e.g. 24 hours after the last contact attempt) rather than the moment the threshold is crossed, so you're not pinged at midnight.
- Daily digest emails go out once a day, in your firm's local timezone.
Mark as read / clear
In the bell-icon panel:
- Click a notification to open the relevant page — that marks it read.
- Mark all as read clears the unread badge without opening anything.
- Notifications stay in the panel for 30 days for reference, then drop off.
Why this matters
Most CRMs either notify too aggressively (every change → email) or too quietly (you have to remember to check). VerdictFlow tries to land in the middle: real-time pings for the events that actually need a human response, batched summaries for the rest, and per-user controls so a partner who wants every detail and an associate who wants only their own work can both be happy.
