Fee-Sharing Agreements

Set fee terms with each partner, generate signed agreements automatically, and keep every signed document attached to the referral it belongs to.

Fee-sharing agreements are the part of every referral that protects both firms. VerdictFlow makes them automatic — define your fee terms once per partner, and every referral you send picks them up, generates a polished agreement, and routes it for signature without anyone touching Word.

What you can set up

  • Per-partner fee defaults — a default fee percentage for each firm in your network.
  • Per-case-type rates — override the default for specific case types (e.g. "40% on PI, 25% on Workers' Comp" for one partner).
  • Account-wide defaults — a fallback that applies when nothing more specific is set.
  • Custom templates — your own agreement language with merge tags for fee percentage, partner name, case type, and more.

How fee terms get picked

When you send a referral, VerdictFlow chooses the fee using this hierarchy (most specific wins):

  1. Partner + case type rate (e.g. "Smith Law" + "Personal Injury" = 40%).
  2. Partner default rate (any case type for this partner).
  3. Account default rate (your firm's global setting).
  4. System default — 33% if nothing else is configured.

The source of the suggested fee is shown in the referral modal so there are no surprises. You can override it for any individual referral.

How the document gets signed

  1. When a referral with fee sharing enabled is sent, VerdictFlow generates the agreement from your active template.
  2. Both firms get a signature link. The receiving firm signs first, then your firm countersigns.
  3. The signed PDF is automatically stored on the referral and on each firm's documents page.
  4. Both firms get a copy emailed to them when the agreement is fully executed.

Tip: Configure partner-specific rates under Agreements → Fee Settings before you start sending high volume. Once your settings are dialed in, you'll rarely need to think about fees per referral.

Audit trail

Every fee agreement keeps a complete history:

  • Who signed when (with timestamps and IP).
  • Any version changes made before signing.
  • The exact rate used and where it came from.

Useful for your own bookkeeping and for any disputes that come up later.
